Kontinentalist is hiring a Business Manager to lead the company in achieving its short and long-term revenue goals. We’re looking for individuals who have a strong passion and belief in the power of data storytelling, and are able to articulate Kontinentalist’s value proposition to existing and prospective business partners and clients. The Business Manager will also develop and execute strategies to strengthen existing revenue streams, as well as make plans to explore new ones. They will also have to look after and project manage existing client projects.
About Kontinentalist
Responsibilities
Kontinentalist does not make revenue from its publication and therefore has to seek revenue from other sources. These include bespoke projects, consultation, workshops, and a content management system. You will need to:
- Develop and execute short-term and long-term business strategies, including exploring new revenue opportunities and streams that are aligned with the company’s goals.
- Oversee the company’s overall client strategy and management, including liaising with clients to understand their needs and limitations, keeping an eye on timelines, setting rates and prices.
- Look after day-to-day operations of the company’s revenue streams, such as project managing client projects, collaborating with individuals across various teams to deliver results and items to clients.
- Lead discussions within the company, and collaborate with other departments to plan and execute product strategy and implementation. These include but are not limited to workshops, consultation, and a content management system.
- Develop a periodic budget and business performance analysis, and ensure that the company is using its business resources efficiently. This includes getting regular feedback from clients and members of the team, and iterate our processes to be more efficient.
- Ensure that all business activities are legally compliant, and review any client-related contracts.
What we look out for
Job experience
Our ideal candidate should have the following job experience. They should have:
- Worked at least three to four years, in a business or project management capacity.
- Experience working in a content production or media company, preferably a digital publication.
- Experience working with or in a business function or strategy, preferably in planning revenue streams and overseeing budgets.
Core competencies
- Basic data visualisation and analysis skills
- Some experience with data visualisation tools or programmes
- Editorial knowledge and experience
- Strong general knowledge and a pulse on current affairs, especially concerning Asia
- Interpersonal and networking skills
- Knowledge and understanding of product thinking culture and principles
- Ability to speak the language around design and development
