Kontinentalist is hiring an Editorial Intern to join our community and business development team for our data storytelling tool, Lapis. The intern will be supporting Lapis’s editorial needs, including drafting and writing advice pieces for the Lapis blog, gathering research relevant to data storytelling, and contributing to copywriting necessary for the product’s development. The intern will also support the planning and executing the in-person Lapis Festival, and the Diary Studies partnerships program, alongside other social/marketing content and editorial thinking for the Lapis platform.

The intern will report to Brand Strategist for the duration of the internship.

Our award-winning digital stories blend data visualisation, narrative, design, and code, helping our clients and non-profit partners communicate data in engaging and memorable ways. Passionate about empowering Asia’s data storytellers and helping them find belonging with one another, we create educational content (workshops, talks, social media) as well as opportunities and supportive communities for data storytelling professionals and enthusiasts in the region.

Responsibilities

Editorial Integration

  • Draft and produce blog articles for the Lapis blog, with knowledge and materials from Kontinentalist on best practices around data storytelling
  • Explore and propose ways to bring story structures and editorial storytelling techniques into Lapis as a product
  • Assist with copywriting and content


Lapis Festival Planning

  • Assist in planning the in-person Lapis Festival, including venue and vendor logistics, run-of-show, and scheduling
  • Support event-day operations, including registration, speaker/attendee coordination, troubleshooting on the ground
  • Contribute to festival strategy with audience targeting, program structure, and how the festival ties into Lapis's broader positioning


Diary Studies Support

  • Support partner relationships for the Diary Studies program, helping maintain regular communication and coordination with partner organisations
  • Review partners' editorial work and offer editorial support or feedback where needed
  • Help collate and analyse feedback from partners and participants


Social & Marketing

  • Assist the Product Marketing Specialist in creating and executing social media and marketing content for Lapis and the festival across channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, newsletter, etc.)
  • Contribute ideas and feedback in marketing and editorial discussions
