Growth Strategist

Job type
Full time
Location
Singapore

Kontinentalist is hiring a Growth Strategist to co-lead our Community and Business Development team, as well as the growth of Lapis, our data storytelling product. In this role, you will be mainly responsible for leading Lapis' expansion: growing its user base and market presence through partnerships, communities, strategic outreach, and visibility-building initiatives. You will also need to support Kontinentalist’s broader community and partnership engagements.

Our ideal candidate is someone highly proactive and externally oriented. You will need to actively seek out partnership opportunities, engage potential users and collaborators, and represent Lapis in relevant spaces—online and offline. This includes but is not limited to initiating conversations, attending networking events, and identifying where Lapis should be present.

About Kontinentalist

Kontinentalist is a data storytelling studio and web publication committed to growing Asia’s voice in global conversations. Our award-winning digital stories blend data visualisation, narrative, design, and code, helping our clients and non-profit partners communicate data in engaging and memorable ways. Passionate about empowering Asia’s data storytellers and helping them find belonging with one another, we create educational content (workshops, talks, social media) as well as opportunities and supportive communities for data storytelling professionals and enthusiasts in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Co-lead the company’s community strategy. You will be tasked with identifying opportunities to build and maintain partnerships that directly support Kontinentalist’s and Lapis’s growth. This includes tapping into networks of media partners, educational institutions, community groups, and product collaborators; and executing wider partnership initiatives to ensure alignment with our company objectives.
  • Drive user growth for Lapis. This year, we're focused on increasing product awareness, adoption, and engagement for our emerging data storytelling platform. Ideally, you will help us identify and pursue opportunities to introduce Lapis, serving as our main linkage to relevant partners and potential users.
  • Develop and maintain Lapis’ content and communication plan. You will work closely with our Product Marketer, serving as the strategy behind their execution. You will inform and oversee end-to-end campaigns by guiding key messaging, target audience, and overall objectives.
  • Support the growth of a user community. This could look like anything you can think of: from developing learning resources to collaborating with other departments on initiatives like events or workshops.
  • Evaluate growth-related metrics, such as the number of partnership and collaboration conversations initiated, growth in brand visibility and awareness, community and user engagement indicators. Although these metrics will be tracked by the Product and Processes team, it is important for you to possess a deep understanding of how these work to further refine and inform strategy.

What we look out for

  • Familiarity with community-driven or partnership-led growth strategies.

Core competencies

  • Strong ability to translate goals into actionable growth plans.
  • High initiative and comfort with external engagement, outreach, and relationship-building.
  • Clear understanding of product thinking and user-centric growth principles.
